What Is the Bikeep Smart Socket?

The Bikeep Smart Socket is a controlled power outlet designed for e-bike and e-scooter charging in shared parking facilities such as apartment bike rooms, corporate campuses, and transit hubs. Each socket operates independently with a push-button activation and an automatic timer shutoff, configurable to 1-hour, 2-hour, 4-hour, or 8-hour durations, to prevent unattended overnight charging and reduce fire risk. The system requires no WiFi, no mobile app, and no subscription — connectivity is handled over 4G where remote management is needed. Its modular design allows 1 to 4 modules to be combined, providing 3 to 12 sockets per installation, and wall mounting takes approximately 30 minutes with standard fixings and no electrician. The Smart Socket is the newest addition to Bikeep's product line of IoT-enabled bicycle and scooter infrastructure.

How Does the Smart Socket Work?

Plug in your charger. Press the button. Green LED turns on. Socket powers the charger for 4 hours, then shuts off automatically. No overcharging. No unattended overnight loads. Reduced fire risk.

Growing Safety Concern

The Problem

Property managers disconnect wall outlets in bike rooms because there's no way to control charging time or energy use. Residents are left with two bad options — charge in their apartment or don't charge at all. One is a fire hazard. The other kills e-bike adoption. Meanwhile, fire codes are tightening.

Without Controlled Charging

  • Property managers disconnect wall outlets
  • Residents forced to charge in apartments
  • Or don't charge at all — kills adoption
  • No way to control charging time
  • Uncontrolled overnight charging risk
  • Fire codes getting stricter

With Bikeep Smart Socket

  • Safe charging in designated bike rooms
  • 4h auto-shutoff eliminates overnight risk
  • Simple push-button — no training needed
  • Resident amenity restored
  • Insurance-friendly solution
Fire Prevention

Reduce Fire Risk. No Overnight Charging.

Lithium-ion battery incidents during uncontrolled charging have increased significantly, with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reporting a sharp rise in e-bike and e-scooter fire incidents since 2020. The Smart Socket helps reduce this risk — the socket turns off after 4 hours, every time, no exceptions.
